During the grand finale which took place in Valencia in mid-November, the MotoGP microcosm complained of conditions too cold to ride, starting with Valentino Rossi, the official Yamaha  who quickly asked the authorities concerned to rectify the situation by organizing this last Grand Prix in warmer latitudes.

Recently, Dorna's calendar design attracted widespread criticism during the Valencia Grand Prix, with the grand finale having been delayed for two years, two weeks later than its original time frame, with the Buriram Grand Prix taking its place in October. And although the Thai Grand Prix will be held next March, the gap has not been reduced in October 2020. The reason: Dorna would like to integrate the Indonesian Grand Prix on the island of Lombok into the calendar before Sepang Grand Prix in October 2021, if the track is ready for this date.

« For me, coming to Valencia in mid-November for a Grand Prix is not a good idea” said Valentino Rossi. “But the organizer is Spanish and he has an interest in the final round of the Championship taking place in Spain. If this is not the case, it would be better not to close the season in Europe, but in a warmer place » commented the pilot from Urbino.

« Certainly, some years the temperature wasn't so bad here. But in the last two years we have had winter conditions” has indicated The Doctor. “In 2015, 2016 and 2017 the temperatures were not as bad here in Valencia. But the last two years it's been really cold. Last year it rained from Thursday to Sunday. This year it was dry, but at night it was five degrees. I understand that it is important that La Dorna wants to finish the season in Spain. But in Europe we have winters. It might be smarter to do Valencia before the three overseas races and maybe stop at Sepang in 40 degrees. But the decision is up to La Dorna » concluded the teammate of Maverick Vinales.
