Miguel Oliveira scored a surprise victory in the second round of the 2022 MotoGP, winning at Mandalika ahead of Frenchmen Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco. A success achieved in difficult conditions, while the start of the race was delayed by more than an hour due to a storm which dragged on.

Author of a sublime performance in qualifying where he managed to get into Q2 and obtain 11th place on the grid, Fabio Di Giannantonio unfortunately, as he had anticipated, suffered in the race. Only 18th under the checkered flag, the Italian driver spoke about his event to journalists. We transcribe his entire remarks here.

Fabio, can you come back to your race in Mandalika?
« It is clear that I cannot be satisfied with this result, because I clearly expected more, at least if the race had taken place in dry conditions. But this was the first time that I participated in a MotoGP race in the rain. So I had to learn everything from scratch during the race, so it was obviously difficult for me at the beginning. Afterwards I tried to increase my pace lap after lap and close the gap with the guys in front of me, but it was too late to catch up with the group and get better than my 18th place at the finish. But it's a learning process and we will continue to work. »
