With Formula 1 now on schedule and Austria opening its Red Bull Ring route to mechanical competitions, it is clear that deconfinement is taking shape after three months of doubts and worst fears. MotoGP is obviously not left out of this positive trend. The motorcycle Grands Prix are also finalizing their 2020 calendar, which had to be completely revised due to the Covid-19 health crisis. An announcement will not be long in coming. In the meantime, here are the broad outlines of what awaits us…

For motorcycle Grands Prix, we will remind you that the Moto3 and Moto2 have already launched their season. It was in March, Qatar, just before the borders close. Only MotoGP is therefore still at the dock. But it is now only a matter of weeks before the drivers in the major category finally enter the fray.

And it will undoubtedly not be an empty word as the pilots are impatient to do battle. The campaign that will be offered to them will be as short as it is intense. The champion who emerges will certainly not be a cheap driver. As for the expected program, Dorna and END will announce a competition which will be developed in particular on the Old Continent, with a possible small parenthesis, still to be determined, overseas, with a Thailand-Malaysia Asian double in the fall. This is provided that these tests can take place in front of an audience, and after a financial evaluation.

France and overseas are not yet out of the game

In principle, there would be 12 races, spread across five countries: Spain, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy and perhaps France. Even if the Spanish executive has not officially come forward, everything is well advanced so that the 19 and 26 July the Jerez circuit hosts the meetings of the Spanish Grand Prix and the Andalusian Grand Prix.

As recently published by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the month of August would be for the Central European circuits, Brno (August 9nd) and Red Bull Ring (August 16 and 23). Then in September and October the paddock would return to Southern Europe on September 6 and 13 in Misano, the September 27st in Aragon and the date of October 4 would be contested by Aragon and Le Mans. If Spain was chosen, the 11 October would be for the Catalan Grand Prix and if it was Le Mans, the 18 would be the date to go to Barcelona in Catalonia.

As planned, the Valencia circuit will close the competition with a double date on October 25 and November 1, although it could be delayed a bit if the Asian mini tour could be squeezed in. In this case, this would be done between the November 15 and December 13.
