Marc Marquez Portimao

Between Marc Marquez and the Portuguese Grand Prix now stands only a medical fitness examination this Thursday, the day before the hostilities of this third meeting of the year in MotoGP. A passage which should be routine, if we remember that he had already passed the required tests in July 2020 in Jerez, four days after his operation on the right humerus... We know the rest, but this time, Marc Marquez listened to his doctors in advance, and he says he listens to his body. He also assures that this return is only the prelude to a rise in power…

Marc Marquez returns to his Honda RC213V for a Grand Prix MotoGP in Portugal. He had not ridden a Grand Prix machine since July 25, 2020 and he hasn't crossed a finish line since Valencia 2019. A forced withdrawal which opened the mind of this authentic phenomenon geared towards competition. After this nine-month ordeal, marked by three operations and a permanent doubt about his ability to one day take the handlebars again, the official Honda obviously appreciates this moment which brings him closer to the meeting of Portimao.

He says : " it's a great feeling to be back in MotoGP, with my team and my bike. We worked hard for this. I spent many hours at the gym and with my physical therapist Carlos. I would have liked to return to Qatar, but the doctors advised me against it and I listened to them ". said physio also confided on this subject by splitting a moving message...

Marc Marquez: “I am focused on listening to my body”

A quote on which he insists, as if to indicate a certain wisdom which, now, inhabits him: “ I really focused on listening to their words and understanding my body, to be able to come back to MotoGP and do what I love. I know the Portuguese track, but the objective this weekend is to work well. Step by step we are coming back and it is very positive after a long time ».

No objectives announced in terms of results, therefore, but a stated intention to regain its bearings. A mission which will not be simple on a route of Portimao known to be mentally and physically demanding. The numerous uphill and downhill sections demand a lot from the riders. It will be recalled that Marc Marquez has never ridden a MotoGP at Portimao. He only tested it in 2012 on a Moto2 Suter and more recently with a Honda RC213V-S.
