This Sunday, November 14, 2021, Alex Rins answered questions from journalists from the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Cheste (Valencia), at the end of the Valencian Community Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Spanish driver, who ended the season with another retirement, while he was at the head of the peloton.

As usual, we report here the words of Alex Rins without the slightest formatting.

Álex, can you come back to this last race of the season? You were rather unlucky...

« It's true that I was unlucky... It's a real shame to end the season like this, especially since I had good pace. But the fact is that I made a mistake because I was not on the trajectory, I was a little wide. It was quite difficult to follow Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín. Now what we need to do is put this season behind us and look ahead to the Jerez tests [which will take place this week, Thursday and Friday, editor's note]. We're going to touch a new bike there and see if we can give our opponents a head start next year with this one. »

What do you expect from the new bike?

« We hope to get more power with the new engine. We already tried it during the tests organized in Misano a few weeks ago, but we need to make adjustments to it, because when you increase the power of the engine it of course changes its characteristics. So we're going to focus on that, but also change some things in terms of aerodynamics, and use a new fairing. Finally, we will work on improving the electronics. »

This isn't the first time you've fallen in a race even though you're in a good position. How do you plan to progress at this level? Because it’s indeed a shame to have wasted a result that seemed promising given your race pace…

« The most important thing immediately was being able to analyze the reasons for the accident once we returned to the garage, which allowed us to understand why I fell. I really need to learn from what happened this year to be better next year. »

You say that you studied the reasons for your fall in the garage, but what was it due to? Is it linked to too much speed in the turn, too much angle? Because in fact you lost the lead quite early…

« Frankly, I was not on the right trajectory. The pressure I applied on the brakes was the right one, but the fact was that I had a little too much angle to try to compensate for having gone too wide in the corner. »
