People: Fatal accident of a police motorcyclist while transporting equipment for the Argentine Grand Prix

With its narrow roads and busy traffic, South America is certainly not Europe, but an accident can happen anywhere and at any time.

This is unfortunately what happened Monday afternoon at 15:50 p.m. during the transport of crates containing part of the equipment necessary for the running of the Argentine Grand Prix between Termas de Rio Honda and Tucumán airport, where the latter were to be loaded bound for Austin, Texas, for the Grand Prix of the Americas.

As a security measure, the convoy of ten trucks containing the boxes was supervised by local gendarmes on motorbikes. Unfortunately, the trucks found themselves in the middle of a traffic jam on the San Cayetano bridge and were forced to come to a sudden stop: the last in line was unable to stop in time or avoid the 45-year-old gendarme who had managed to stop.

Whatever the responsibilities of each person, Juan Ramón Espinosa, belonging to squadron 55 of the national gendarmerie, therefore lost his life in the exercise of his duties and we wanted to pay tribute to the latter, as did the Argentine organization of the Grand Prix.

 The Organization of the Michelin Grand Prix of the Argentine Republic would like to express its deep sadness for the death of Sergeant Juan Ramón Espinoza, belonging to Squadron 55 of the National Gendarmerie based in San Miguel de Tucumán.
 His death occurred on Monday afternoon, following a traffic accident during the transfer of part of the MotoGP equipment from the Termas de Río Hondo international circuit to the San Miguel de Tucumán airport.
 All those who are part of this Organization offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sergeant Juan Ramón Espinoza, and accompany them in this difficult moment that they must go through.
