Following the Misano sleeve, 15-year-old Japanese rider Ayumu Sasaki has a 31-point advantage heading into the final two races of the 2016 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup this weekend in Aragón.
He is therefore the big favorite for the title even if, with 50 points to distribute, the two 15-year-old Spaniards, Alex Viu et Raul Fernandez, can still mathematically win it, provided they have a perfect weekend and Sasaki scores very few points; their destiny is no longer in their hands alone!
Beyond a suspense that is ultimately quite limited, the interest now rests on knowing who will go directly to the Grand Prix, like Will Bendsneyder this year, without going through the Moto3 Junior FIM CEV Repsol world championship box.
In this regard, the Japanese drivers seem better off this year since we hear in the paddock not only the name of Ayumu Sasaki, but also that of Kaito Toba, currently 5th in this Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
The races take place Saturday at 16:40 p.m. and Sunday at 15:30 p.m., and will be visible live on the channel www.redbull.tv.
