Let it be said, Silverstone belongs to Sam Lowes, in Moto2! Well, in principle...

Already the record holder for the place, the Gresini driver is able to get out of his box to do a single lap, and get back there faster than anyone else. This is what he did in qualifying and this morning in warm up. Even if he falls more often than not, he is therefore considered the favorite for the stage, ahead of Johann Zarco who nevertheless precedes him by 44 points in the championship. Alex Rins, the third contender for the title, is still suffering from his broken collarbone and looked rather poor all weekend, finishing in a relatively modest 19th place in qualifying. But be careful, it was already somewhat the same situation in Brno, and it had turned to the Frenchman's disadvantage in the race... The Pons driver received injections of painkillers 30 minutes before the start.

To disrupt the game of these three men fighting for the crown, Jonas Folger, Alex Marquez, Franco Morbidelli, Lorenzo Baldassarri, Takaaki Nakagami and Tom Luthi intend to pull out their cards, without even mentioning Hafizh Syahrin or Isaac Vinales, who appeared in the Top 7 in Great Britain.

And to make matters worse, let's not forget that the qualification took place in the wet while the race took place in the dry…

When the lights go out, Jonas Folger take the lead Sam Lowes, Johann Zarco, Hafizh Syahrin, Isaac Vinales and Alex Marquez. The very aggressive Tech3 driver fell at turn #9 while Sam Lowes takes over command at the end of the first lap, in front of Johann Zarco.

The positions stabilize for a few turns before Morbidelli and Marquez fail to pass Folger but the gaps are tiny and no one seems able to escape. Alex Marquez, then 4th, falls in the 6th lap in turn #14 losing the front. In the next round, Tom Luthi passes Folger for 4th place, then Morbidelli for 3rd.

Garage Plus Interwetten driver seems wild and immediately passes Johann Zarco and Sam Lowes, in the 7th round. The French driver took the opportunity to overtake the Briton, which Franco Morbidelli also did just after.

At the halfway mark, the race lead consisted of Luthi, Zarco, Lowes, Morbidelli, Syahrin, Nakagami, Folger, Baldassarri, Corsi and Rins, the latter being around 5 seconds behind Corsi.

Gradually, Luthi, Zarco and Lowes manage to open a gap of just one second on their pursuers to compete for places on the podium behind closed doors, but the stage local brakes too wide and is followed by Morbidely. The latter must nevertheless give in to attacks from Nakagami, just before the race is not disrupted by the clash which we will no doubt talk about for a long time between Zarco and Lowes. If the Ajo driver only loses a few seconds in the incident, his English counterpart must go through the “glissounnette” box before leaving. The scene will be investigated later by the competent authorities, as everyone's responsibility is not very clear.

Meanwhile, Luthi breathes a little ahead of Nakagami and Morbidelli, then Syahrin and Folger. Kidneys is 9th… then 8th in the last lap, and even 7th after the 30-second penalty given to Johann Zarco who crossed the finish line in 6th position and thus saw himself fall back to 22nd!

In the world championship rankings, Johann Zarco only has 10 points ahead of Alex Rins...
