Alex Marquez suffered a violent highside during Q1 of the Valencian Community Grand Prix, on the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, last weekend. Alpinestars published on his Twitter account data relating to the incident involving the HRC pilot.
Alex Marquez stayed in the air for a second during his huge highside on Saturday. It's very long, enough to have time to think about the impending shock and associated pain. Fortunately, the airbag integrated into the suit is undoubtedly one of the most effective inventions to protect pilots during falls, and he got up safe and sound, although a little stunned. He was even able to return to the box and take his second bike for a spin, to reassure himself about his physical capabilities.
His airbag was triggered 721ms before the first impact with the ground, when the pilot was in the air. And fortunately, because he suffered a 23,6G impact when he landed, before sliding and rolling for another 2,3 seconds.
