It is not yet official but unfortunately it now seems certain: according to our information, the 24 Heures Motos event, which is due to take place on the weekend of April 19 at Le Mans, would be postponed to the beginning of September, more precisely the weekend end of 5 and 6.

This might seem like a simple, now “classic” measure given the spread of the coronavirus and the resulting restrictive measures which are blooming like mushrooms, but, like the Grand Prix of the Americas which will now postpone the MotoGP final in Valencia by a week, this decision would have consequences, and this time more important for the discipline.

Indeed, how can we then organize the Bol d'Or supposed to be held two weeks later? This seems impossible, technically for the machines, and humanly for all the volunteers...
We are therefore already talking about a pure and simple cancellation of the famous 24-hour race on the Paul Ricard circuit. for this year…

In fact, the 24 Heures Motos would also replace the 8 Hours of Suzuka as the final of the 2019/2020 world endurance championship.

As in MotoGP, all solutions are considered, and projects sometimes change from one hour to the next, depending on the various refusals of the parties concerned, but we unfortunately fear an imminent formalization of this postponement mentioned in our columns...

As for the French Grand Prix, scheduled for May 17, it is for the moment still kept on the scheduled date, which obviously offers no assurance given the speed of the spread of the virus and the measures that are taken daily to fight the pandemic. We will come back to that…
