Fifth in the championship despite a crash in Qatar, and with confidence boosted by his recent podium at Le Mans, Rookie Johann Zarco will now face the very fast Mugello circuit nestled between the Tuscan hills.

His latest, constantly improving results in the Italian temple (10, 3, 7, 3, 1) show that the Frenchman's driving style fits relatively well with the fast-curving route of Mugello. In this regard, Le Mans and its ON/OFF configuration was not, on paper, ideal for the French driver. So, between theory and practice...

We are therefore not selling the bear's skin at Tech3, where we would be satisfied with a place in the top 6, while nevertheless dreaming of repeating the Bugatti's feat.

Johann zarco, 5th in the championship with 55 points: “After arriving on the podium in France, I have great motivation for the Italian Grand Prix. Still, I have to keep my feet on the ground because I have to keep learning so that I can understand this bike well to finish as strongly as possible in all the races. The Mugello circuit is very different, compared to Le Mans, because there are a lot of fast corners and we will have to use a smooth driving style. There is only a lot of braking at the first corner, after the long straight in the middle of the hills, and there the bike moves a lot so it will be very interesting and exciting to experience this on a MotoGP. For me, the circuit is one that I like because I have achieved some solid results there in the past and so I want to keep pushing. I will keep dreaming of another podium, which would just be fantastic for the Tech3 team and me. The Yamaha has the potential to do it, so I will give it my all to see how far I can get. »

Hervé Poncharal, Team manager: “Now here is the Italian Grand Prix on the magnificent Mugello circuit which is certainly one of the most loved places in the entire paddock, and personally, it is probably my favorite. There is always an incredible atmosphere and the passionate fans are true promoters of MotoGP racing who support at full volume! Usually this track is quite beneficial to the Yamaha YZR-M1, and although we haven't tested there recently, some of our competitors have, but we are confident that at From FP2 onwards, we will be in the mix. It’s a circuit that both of our riders really love and enjoy, so with the YZR-M1s and their records at Mugello, we can look forward to another exciting Italian Grand Prix…”
