Following the tests carried out in Valencia in the wet, after the Jerez Grand Prix, the technicians of the Marc VDS team subsequently had an unpleasant surprise when they got off the truck the RC213Vs of Jack Miller and Tito Rabat.

A special test session for rain tires was organized on the Ricardo Tormo Tour, with the track soaked using a sprinkler truck. The operator of this truck had filled his tank not from a tap, but from a pool of water.

This water had been stagnant in this place for a long time, and bacteria had taken hold there. Some of them were sucked into the portable tank, then spread out on the track, and a small number of them were thrown onto the motorcycles. This therefore caused traces of corrosion, among other things on very expensive magnesium parts.

According to the former GP driver Klaus Nohles who is responsible for the supply of spare parts to the HRC, who are " The main concerns were the exhaust system, brakes and radiator. After the test, nothing was visible. The parties involved also included external parties which, generally speaking, are not visible at all. Some parts had to be changed. »

Marc VDS even sent some of the brakes directly to the factory Brembo for professional cleaning.
