Between a morning totally dominated by the Yamahas and the KTMs, and an afternoon where we had the pleasure of finding Johann Zarco at the forefront, the first day of the Andalusian Grand Prix gave us some nice surprises on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

However, this should not be left out, with the American star the expected return of Marc Márquez but also the suspense linked to pre-qualifications not yet acquired for Fabio Quartararo, Danilo Petrucci, Joan Mir or even to a certain extent Andrea Dovizioso, and obviously Alex Rins et Cal Crutchlow, both convalescing.

Before this 3-minute FP45, only the determined ones seem more or less safe from a move to Q1 Maverick Vinales, the ghost Valentino Rossi, the very fiery Brad Binder, the fast Franco Morbidelli, the always voluntary Pol Espargaro, the promising Miguel Oliveira, the pilot in the making Jack Miller, the surprising Takaaki Nakagami, the ever valiant Aleix I will espargaro and the old wolf Andrea Dovizioso.

Here are the references before this third working session of the Andalusian MotoGP Grand Prix which benefits from ideal climatic conditions, with 27° in the air and 33° on the ground:

1'36.584 Maverick Viñales (2020)

At the opening of the track, the attraction is obviously on the box of Marc Márquez who doesn't wait a minute to get into his Honda. All eyes are on the Catalan driver who suffered an acceleration of almost 26G during the fall which fractured his right humerus.

Unfortunately, the live timing doesn't work right away this morning, which won't make it easier to observe the drivers' performances...

Marc Márquez is 1.183 behind the best time during his 3rd timed lap! Elbow on the ground!

fabio quartararo integrates the pre-qualified, in 5th position, after 10 minutes in this FP3 while the session is led by Takaaki NakagamiFollowed by Pol Espargaro and the French pilot.

Alex Rins forfeits this FP3.

The return of live timing before the end of the first run allows us to observe both the tires chosen and the provisional hierarchy.

At the end of the first run, the 10 pre-qualified drivers are Maverick Viñales, Valentino Rossi, Takaaki Nakagami, Pol Espargaró, Fabio Quartararo, Brad Binder, Franco Morbidelli, Miguel Oliveira, Jack Miller and Joan Mir.

A little before mid-session, Francis Bagnaia, equipped with a soft tire at the rear, made the powder speak by achieving the best time of 1'36.847, very close to the record of fabio quartararo in 1'36.705.

The incredible Marc Márquez then achieved the 10th best time of the session in 1'37.882, while Fabio Quartararo lights the first two sectors in red... then the third... then the fourth, with a new record in 1'36.643!

Definitely very excited this weekend, Takaaki Nakagami also improved and took second provisional position, 2/10 behind the French driver.

Before the final quarter of an hour, alone Fabio Quartararo, Takaaki Nakagami, Francesco Bagnaia, Maverick Viñales, Pol Espargaró, Valentino Rossi, Brad Binder, Franco Morbidelli, Joan Mir and Miguel Oliveira have a direct passage to Q2.

Johann zarco then appears 15th in the combined ranking, Marc Márquez 16e.

Maverick Vinales improves both his best time and his position, which allows him to place second in the provisional classification, a good tenth behindEl Diablo while this one further improves the first three sectors but loses a little time in the fourth.

Jack Miller enters the Top 10 while we deplore the independent falls ofAleix I will espargaro et Iker Lecuona.

Everyone is now on a soft rear tire, seven minutes from the checkered flag, for one last attempt...

The impressive Brad Binder et Joan Mir improve their position in the top 10.

Two minutes from the checkered flag, Maverick Vinales in tender/tender seizes the absolute track record in 1'36.584!

Jack Miller positions itself third, Danilo Petrucci sixth.

In extremis, Brad Binder improves and leads the KTM troops.
