Valentino Rossi is happy with his second place behind his untouchable teammate Lorenzo who completed his qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix. Satisfied, but still with the question of tire choice for Sunday's race in mind. What's more after an FP4 spent with a hard rear tire that he didn't expect to have such a celebration...

Michelin brought a choice of tires to Misano and the choice for the drivers remains to be made. Among them one Valentino Rossi which has all the more to think about as another option opened up during FP4: “ At the moment our weekend is full of ups and downs as we have not yet made our decision regarding the tires » confides the Doctor. “We haven't found the perfect solution. I tried the rear hard tire and it turned out to be a good possible solution. The question of tires is completely open ».

« Everything will depend on the temperature on Sunday. You will have to stay focused and know how to wait. Misano is very demanding, especially on the front tire. It's an acceleration-braking circuit, you constantly have to brake late and get going again quickly. You have to know how to do it for 28 laps. You have to stay focused from start to finish. The decision will be hard to make because the warm-up will be 15° cooler than at the time of the race. Finally, it is important to start from the first row because overtaking here is not easy ».

As a reminder, on this track, when braking the T8, the drivers go from 291km/h to 75 in 5s (246m). Lever pressure: 6,9kg, disc temperature: 650°C…
