Moto3 Barcelona P1: Daniel Holgado in the lead, David Alonso in the west!

The P1 Moto3 is in full swing in Barcelona, as the riders want to race to pay tribute to the Valencian Community.

Moto3 Barcelona P1

For the last time of the season, the Moto3 riders will don their hero's capes in Barcelona for P1. This Grand Prix, organized in honor of the Valencia region, will have a very special flavor for David Alonso and his CFMoto Aspar Team. Indeed, the headquarters of the legendary Spanish team, based in Valencia, was not spared by the floods. The Colombian rider, already titled and on a series of six consecutive victories, will try to impose himself for a strong tribute. But behind him, the battle rages. Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) and Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) are perfectly tied in second place in the general classification, so they must decide between them. Ivan Ortola, fourth, can still create a surprise and steal this second position if there is trouble. In any case, this Grand Prix promises to be grandiose. This morning, during the FP, Angel Piqueras stood out quite a bit from the rest of the competition.

Even if you already know the outcome of this session, come relive it with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

Moto3™ Barcelona

5 - 2024

11 - 2024

FP 1'46.838 David Alonso 1'47.281 Angel Piqueras
P1 1'46.897 David Alonso 1'45.568 Daniel Holgado
P2 1'46.111 David Alonso
Q1 1'47.766 Matteo Bertelle
Q2 1'46.749 Ivan Ortola
Course Alonso, Ortola, Rueda (See here)
All time lap record 1'46.111 David Alonso

At once, Adrian fernandez (Honda Leopard Racing) does not take long to take the best place. He was already fast this morning, exactly like his teammate Angel Piqueras. But Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM MT Helmets MSi), who has been quite discreet until now, is rising ahead of the Spaniard.

Also pay attention to Collin Veijer, in the running as always. The Dutchman, still in the running for second place, even takes command of the operations. At the same time, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) almost falls and runs away at the last minute.

With just a few minutes to go, the Moto3 riders are getting carried away. Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), then Fernandez, holgado, and the pair KTM Boé Motorsports conducted by David munoz temporarily takes the best position.

Then, it's holgado who shows his fangs, but there are still two turns left for the others to respond. David Alonso, who has not been mentioned yet, is currently 14th! Could he make it to Q1? What a surprise that would be.

Finally, Daniel Holgado ends this first day in the lead, just ahead David munoz et Angel Piqueras. David Alonso is only 14th, the last qualifying place in Q2. We will have to do better tomorrow morning.
