Moto3 Brno Race: First victory for Dennis Foggia who wins a solid race

The Moto3 category was the first to get underway for qualifying this Saturday, but it ended in a somewhat anticlimactic storyline. Raúl Fernández (KTM, Red Bull KTM Ajo) might disagree, as the Spanish rider took his first world championship pole position after setting a good time early in Q2, which was never seriously challenged. But on this circuit where the phenomenon of aspiration plays a crucial role, the game of cat and mouse did not work and few drivers managed to improve their time, allowing Fernández to retain first place for two tenths of second. Gabriel Rodrigo (Honda, Kömmerling Gresini Moto3) showed some consistency to climb into second position, while Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda, SIC58 Squadra Corse) overcame a difficult start to the weekend to join the front row of Grid.

Ai Ogura (Honda, Honda Team Asia) continues to impress by achieving fourth position, opening the second row ahead Dennis Foggia (Honda, Leopard Racing) and the prolific rookie Jeremy Alcoba (Honda, Kömmerling Gresini Moto3). The championship leader will start the race on the third row, Albert Arenas (KTM, Aspar Team Gaviota) being joined by the Q1 leader Tony Arbolino (Honda, Rivacold Snipers Team) and his compatriot Romano Fenati (Husqvarna, Sterilgarda Max Racing Team). The recruit Yuki Kunii (Honda, Honda Team Asia) completes the top ten and takes the lead from fourth place ahead Andrea Migno (KTM, Sky Racing Team VR46) and Niccolo Antonelli (Honda, SIC58 Squadra Corse) – the trio already being a second slower than the pole sitter.

While the 15th place of Darryn binder (KTM, CIP-Green Power) on the grid is hardly a surprise and, as he continues to prove, barely an obstacle in racing, another high profile name missing from the top positions was John mcphee. The Petronas driver failed to set a time in Q2 as he suffered a violent highside at Turn 9 on his first timed lap and will start from 18th on the grid.

Davide Pizzoli (KTM, BOE Skull Rider Facile.Energy) will be penalized with a start at the back of the grid as well as a “long lap” for having fallen into a section under yellow flag regime during Q1.

At the end of the morning, the air temperature was 28°C and that of the track 37°C.

The drivers are ready to set off for this 18-lap race.

When the lights went out, the quickest to get into action was gabriel rodrigo (Honda, Kömmerling Gresini Moto3), closely followed by Albert Arenas (KTM, Aspar Team Gaviota), ready to take revenge on his last white result in Jerez. He went from 7th row to 2nd place in less than one lap!

During the first round, gabriel rodrigo made a heat and fell back in the rankings. He completed the first lap in seventh place, nothing was lost for him.

At the end of the first round, Albert Arenas leads the race ahead Tony Arbolino (Honda, Rivacold Snipers Team) and Raul Fernandez (KTM, Red Bull KTM Ajo). The battle rages on every level, positions changing at every turn. Alone Arenas manages to maintain the lead of the race.

Tatsuki suzuki (Honda, SIC58 Squadra Corse) quickly moved up to second position: a battle between the winner of the last Grand Prix and the leader of the World Championship began.

The Japanese driver had a big scare at turn 4, during the 4th lap of the race, but only lost 2 places, so he is still well placed to play for victory.

A third of the way through, Dennis Foggia (Honda, Leopard Racing) takes control in front Albert Arenas. Ai Ogura (Honda, Honda Team Asia) completes the provisional podium. The poleman, Raul Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo), is then 4th.

Overtaking is strong in the leading group!

With only 9 rounds remaining, Alonso lopez is the victim at turn 4 of a highside in the middle of the pack. He escapes without being hit. Tatsuki suzuki (Honda, SIC58 Squadra Corse) falls just after at turn 10. The winner of the Andalusian Grand Prix will not repeat this weekend.

Dennis Foggia (Honda, Leopard Racing) saw his first place threatened 6 laps before the finish. His teammate James Masia and Tony Arbolino (Honda, Rivacold Snipers Team) exchange leadership at every turn. We can say that the Hondas are competitive in racing.

With 5 laps to go from the checkered flag, there are still 10 drivers vying for 3 places on the podium. Ai Ogura (Honda, Honda Team Asia), John mcphee (Honda, Petronas Sprinta Racing) and Albert Arenas (KTM, Aspar Team Gaviota) are in the leading pack: while Tatsuki suzuki is down, the contenders for the title are there.

Dennis Foggia (Honda, Leopard Racing) took a slight lead over his pursuing pursuers who were fighting, 3 laps before the finish. This could help him secure his first place. His teammate James Masia, who was second, made a mistake at turn 11 and lost the front. Hopes of a Leopard Racing double are dashed.

Ai Ogura (Honda, Honda Team Asia) goes back on Foggia in the last 2 laps, and the fight is virile, but correct.

Dennis Foggia (Honda, Leopard Racing) took control of the race and won in front Albert Arenas who retains the lead in the Championship. Ai Ogura (Honda, Honda Team Asia) completes the podium.

This is his first victory in Moto3. Romano Fenati is the first to congratulate his Italian compatriot.

Albert Arenas don't shy away from his 2nd place, heroic afterwards his violent fall in Jerez 15 days ago, which consolidates its place as leader of the Championship.

Ai Ogura was not far from victory, the Japanese driver climbs onto the podium this Sunday.
