Marquez Germany

The king has arrived. Marc Marquez feels right at home in Germany. On a circuit he has always loved and where he has won 12 times in his career, the Spaniard, still chasing that world championship, has a mountain to climb. He remains 40 points behind the overall leader, now Jorge Martin, not Marco Bezzecchi. Being the favorite (he won both races last year) puts additional pressure on him that he would rather avoid, as he admits he is not yet 100% fit.

Marc Marquez thus finishes the day in the lead, confirming his status as favorite. And yet, he is not entirely satisfied. "I'm not lying." Yesterday I said that here I would try a more offensive style to score as many points as possible and get on the podium, in the sprint and in the main race. It's true that we're in the lead, but it's also true that it hasn't gone as I would have liked. Yes, I'm driving well, but it's not yet as natural, as fluid as it should be on this circuit, because there are 30 laps on Sunday. We're doing pretty well and we need to change two or three things to try and pick up the pace a bit. » he told the press.

Like many others, he crashed at turn number 3, as a new bump is very tricky. Fortunately, he wasn't seriously injured. "It's my fault, I didn't properly analyze the Moto2 crashes that had occurred at that spot. I thought to myself, "Okay, they're falling," but I didn't make the right analysis. There's a new bump, the asphalt is even buckling a bit, and I've already been told they're going to fix it for next year. I was the first to crash, as always. Then there were a few incidents and more falls, but this bump, which is on the correct trajectory, forces you to take the less favorable one, a little further outside. » he added.

Being so dominant on this track is almost a disadvantage, according to his own words. « It is both an advantage and a disadvantage to arrive on a circuit where you have won so much. If we win on Sunday, well, that's what we expect because it's one of my favorite circuits. And if I don't win, it's a disaster. We can handle it; we've done it before. Just because it's one of my favorite tracks doesn't mean I have to win. I'm aiming for a podium finish, which is optimistic, but realistic. They're good tracks, easy to ride physically. As with Rafa Nadal at Roland-Garros, if he didn't win, it was an event, and if he did win, it was because it was Roland-Garros.It's pretty much the same here; if we don't win, it makes the headlines. We'll try to manage it as best we can. he concluded.
