Francesco Bagnaia finished the German Grand Prix frustrated after not being able to fully exploit his Ducati.

Francis Bagnaia He did not conclude the first part of the season in the way he would have liked in Germany. For seven Grands Prix, he had indeed achieved at least one podium finish in both races, but the streak came to an end in the Netherlands 15 days ago.

Having become a father in the meantimeThe Italian rider arrived in Germany highly motivated to have a good weekend before starting the summer break on a positive note with his family, but he continued to encounter difficulties with his GP26, unlike the other Ducati riders equipped with the same machine.

After finishing sixth in Saturday's sprint race, he again spent the main race behind Jorge Martín and failed to overtake him.

“As a driver, you always have fun when you’re battling. Sometimes you have to ignore the positions, but it’s fun. I saw that he was struggling with the front, and I was struggling with the rear, so it kind of evened out in terms of lap time. On one lap, I tried a maneuver at turn 11, where he was faster than me, but I wasn’t close enough.”, he explained.

"It was difficult. I would have had to take too many risks to overtake him and, unfortunately, I couldn't find the necessary space. To do so, I would have risked taking us both off the track. That wouldn't have been wise. I've learned in the past that it's always better to finish races."

“The situation changes more between second and first place, and between fourth and third. In the second case, an overtake allows you to get on the podium. In the first, you can win. If you have to take risks, it's better to do it for these kinds of results. But today, if I had had to fight for one of those positions, it would have been difficult to imagine an overtake.”

Having to settle for seventh place at the finish, he ended frustrated, and hopes that solutions will be found when MotoGP resumes in early August at Silverstone.

"Let's just say that, given the enormous difficulties encountered all weekend, a seventh and a sixth place are two excellent results. We have to focus on the positives, even if there aren't many. I need the summer break, but I'm not starting it happy because I know what I could do and what we can't, and that bothers me a little." he concluded.
