The reigning world champion, Pecco Bagnaia, had a good start to the weekend at Silverstone by placing third at the end of the first day of the British Grand Prix. Although he is satisfied with his performances, the Italian recognizes the superiority of Jorge Martin on this circuit.
« I'm happy, it's my best Friday ever at Silverstone. Here, I always had a little difficulty because of different situations. I'm not the fastest, Martin is faster than me right now" , said bagnaia.
The pilot Ducati explained that his bike was a little too nervous, which prevented him from being as incisive as he would like, especially in sector 3 where he conceded precious time to Martin. " My strong point is usually sector 3, but here I struggled a bit and Martin gave me 2 tenths. This is the area I need to work on the most" , he added.
Pecco Bagnaia also pays tribute to Enea Bastianini
bagnaia focused on medium tires, which he believes are best suited for long races. He also highlighted the performance of his teammate Enea Bastianini, who he considers to be his main rivals for this weekend.
« At the moment, Martin is the fastest, without a doubt. He averaged 58,8 in the thirteenth round, even if it is true that he had changed the front. Jorge and Enea are the fastest" , concluded bagnaia.
The Italian driver nevertheless remains confident in his chances of success this weekend and intends to fight for the podium. However, he knows he will have to work hard to dethrone George Martin and his other rivals, including in his box.
