Jorge Martín is not yet fully confident on the Balaton Park circuit, which had nevertheless been very successful for him last year.
Jorge Martín The first day of the Hungarian Grand Prix ended on a mixed note. On the one hand, the Spanish rider managed to finish in the top ten in Practice, securing him a place in Q2 for tomorrow. On the other hand, he only managed ninth place, in addition to a 12th position in FP1 this morning, each time nine-tenths of a second off the fastest time.
While he displayed his speed in recent GPs, this time he hasn't quite got everything in place to be at his best. His main weakness remains time attack, and he'll need to improve for tomorrow's qualifying session if he hopes to secure a good grid position.
Last year, this point had been particularly problematic as he qualified 17th, but the circuit suited him well in terms of race pace. Having only competed in two Grands Prix since his long recovery, he managed to secure ninth position in the sprint race, but above all, an incredible fourth place in the feature race, which had impressed everyone.

Now fully recovered physically, Martín He knows he has a chance on the Hungarian track, and hopes to take a step forward tomorrow. “The important thing is to be in Q2. My feeling improved significantly throughout the day, but I'm still struggling with time attack. When I try to attack, complications arise, but that's part of the process. We still have time to analyze the critical points in detail to be ready for Saturday.”, he said during his debriefing.
"It's fantastic to be able to keep up the pace without any problems, whereas last year, I remember that after two laps at full speed, I was already completely out of breath. Now, I have that margin and I certainly hope to take advantage of it."
