Pedro Acosta does not understand the performance differences of his KTM from one circuit to another, and is therefore not entirely satisfied with his first place.
Peter Acosta He largely dominated the first day of the Hungarian Grand Prix, relegating his rivals to more than four tenths of a second behind at the end of this afternoon's practice session. This morning, he had already finished third, just one tenth of a second off the fastest time.
There's a sense of déjà vu, since the same scenario played out last year, except that Marc Márquez finished just a few thousandths of a second behind. While the situation might be cause for celebration... AcostaIn reality, that's not the case at all.
The Spanish rider is obviously pleased with his day, but is completely baffled after struggling at the Italian Grand Prix last weekend. Apart from making it through Q2 on Friday, he fought hard to secure his place in Q1 on Saturday, ultimately qualifying tenth. Ninth in the sprint race and then sixth the following day, he concluded a difficult GP and doesn't understand how there could be such discrepancies in his performance.
"It's very difficult to understand because last week we were really struggling. It makes no sense to have been so good today and so bad a week ago. We'll see if I can find an explanation because otherwise it's going to be very difficult to have a consistent season, which was my goal.", he said during his debriefing.
"I'm not happy because it's not normal that last week we struggled so much that I didn't make it into Q2, that I had a hard time and qualified tenth. I also struggled in the race and in all the sessions up until Sunday."

"I hope they manage to fix the problem tomorrow because it was after changing something that the bike started to lose a lot of stability, and honestly, that's what I'm missing."he said. "It's true that since last year the bike has been developing quite well on this circuit, and it's here that I led for the first time on a Friday in MotoGP. It's also easier to ride here because I can take advantage of my strengths, which are generally braking, and at Mugello I couldn't."
Despite his pace and excellent results in 2025 on the Hungarian track, Pedro Acosta prefers not to get carried away thinking about his possible first MotoGP victory.
“Currently, there are four Aprilias in Q2 and a lot of Ducatis. Marc had a great pace on the medium rear tire, and so did Marco. For now, we're not in a position to think about the win. Tomorrow we'll have to avoid repeating last year's mistake, when I crashed on the first lap of qualifying, and qualify at the front. Last year, that was the race where I came closest to victory, but I started so far back that by the time I'd made it back, Marc had already pulled away. I lost the opportunity to fight for the win.”he concluded.
