A Jorge Martin so untouchable that he sowed chaos behind him among his direct adversaries who suffered shipwrecks while trying to follow him, a Marco Bezzecchi who paradoxically benefited from his own fall and an Acosta who stunned his KTM camp by inviting himself onto the front row make up the leading trio in qualifying for this Indonesian Grand Prix.
An exercise which also saw a Marc Marquez to scuttle twice and our two dazzling Frenchmen, starting with a Johann zarco who pleased his employers Honda. Here is what the front line had to say to Mandalika in the tropical heat…
George Martin (Pramac-Ducati/1st): “ I am very happy. I felt good today. I drove a lot on used tyres so I expected a lot of progress in qualifying. But not so big. The first attempt was perfect. Then I changed strategy and wanted to ride with Marc, 'Pecco' and Enea. If they had improved, I would have been able to take another step ».
Martin still had some left in his hands, Bezzecchi was successful and Acosta thanks his people
Marco Bezzecchi (VR46-Ducati/2nd): “ I had a very good second attempt with the second tyre, but there were a lot of yellow flags. Before the last run, I wanted to slow down a bit in the last sector and pick up speed for the last lap, but I lost my concentration and fell ».
« Fortunately the bike was fine. The marshals helped me restart the bike and I attacked on the last lap. I knew I was fast, but I didn't expect to be in the front row. What can I say? I am very happy ».
