On the timesheet, it appears that the Tech3 duo was dominated by the official riders within the KTM club. But Friday's ranking does not highlight the differences in strategy. Among the French, we were indeed studious to better prepare for Sunday. This Saturday will be more revealing of the potential of each person within the Mattighofen brand clan. In the meantime, Miguel Oliveira has laid a solid foundation while Iker Lecuona must build his body as a MotoGP rider…

With the sixth fastest time in the first practice session on Friday morning, Miguel Oliveira from the Red Bull KTM team Tech3 started the Gran Premio Red Bull de Andalucía where it left off last week. The Portuguese star managed to maintain his provisional position in Q2 after the second free practice session, which was much hotter than the first session, and concluded Friday just 0,429 seconds from the lead.

At the same time, Iker Lecuona also had a great start to the second weekend of his rookie campaign. He ultimately finished the day just 0,340 seconds behind his teammate, missing out on the top 10 by just 0,093 seconds, although he did have a small crash in FP2. Now, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 pair is looking forward to the third free practice session this Saturday at 9:55 a.m. local time.

Le meilleur is coming

« Overall we had a positive start »Comments Olive tree. “ We made some changes to the bike in the morning and I really enjoyed it. Finally, I was able to go fast on a lap, at least faster than in qualifying last week. We definitely still need to improve a little bit if we want to be in Q2, but I feel like we've done a good job. In the afternoon we kept the same tires, working on our race pace and so far I just have positive feelings ».

For its part, Iker Lecuona completed: “lThis morning I finished in P12, so I was quite happy, especially because I managed to improve the base of the bike, which allowed me to ride more relaxed and faster. In the afternoon, in P2, we tried some things for the race, so we didn't focus on the lap time. Unfortunately I had a small crash in the second corner, after we changed something on the bike and I didn't have a good feeling with the front. I left with bike number two, so that was good. Either way, we know where we can work from here, so hopefully I can improve my lap time on Saturday and stay closer to the top of the standings ».
