MotoGP LIVE Portimão Q2: New record for Quartararo ahead of Rins and Zarco!

fabio quartararo, Franco Morbidelli, Francis Bagnaia, Johann zarco, Alex Rins, Jack Miller, Luca Marini, Aleix Espargaro, Miguel Oliveira et Maverick Vinales, already pre-qualified for Q2, as well as Marc Márquez, and Joan mir, drafted in Q1, will now compete for 15 minutes to determine the first four lines of the starting grid for the Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimão.

As for the unfortunate George Martin, victim of a big fall this morning in FP3, he is now undergoing examinations at the Faro hospital, which is certainly negative news but rather reassuring in view of the ejection suffered... We are talking about head trauma and possible fractures to the wrist and ankle RIGHT.

The sky is rather overcast but we should escape the raindrops, while temperatures are 23° in the air and 34° on the ground.

When the red lights go out... Miguel Oliveira breaks tradition and leaves no one to take to the track while Marc Marquez seems to have a technical problem with his motorcycle.

All the drivers chose the soft rear tire while the medium is preferred at the front, except for Alex Rins et Jack Miller endowed with tenders.

At the end of the first round, Fabio Quartararo leads the way in 1'39.028, an already very fast time!

Midway through the session, Jack Miller produced his effort and lit the first three sectors but lost time in the fourth.

The hierarchy is then composed of Fabio Quartararo, Franco Morbidelli, Joan Mir, Aleix Espargaró, Jack Miller, Johann Zarco, Maverick Viñales, Luca Marini, Miguel Oliveira, Álex Rins, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez still immobilized in his box.

fabio quartararo further increases its pace and, with its heart at 172 beats/minute, achieves 1'38.862, a new record for the Portimão circuit!

Jack Miller tries to answer but concedes 2/10 to the Frenchman.

In extremis, Francis Bagnaia lights up the last three sectors…and confirms in the fourth by achieving the absolute best time in 1'38.494!

Final twist, the best time of Francesco Bagnaia is canceled for having been carried out under yellow flag and it is fabio quartararo who officially finds himself a record holder on the circuit. For the same reasons, the Frenchman was deprived of his best time in FP2, which seems like revenge...
