MotoGP Test Qatar J2 Danilo Petrucci (12/Ducati): “Still a few problems to resolve”

The Ducati rider finished further back in the standings today, but said he was still satisfied with his pace. However, the expected progress has not borne fruit, and the Desmosedici is still missing something, in the eyes of the Italian, to compete with other brands.

Danilo Petrucci was rather satisfied with his first day of testing yesterday, despite some problems which prevented him from taking full advantage of the time allotted. He was nevertheless one of the fastest on the track. With a fourth fastest time, he finished as the best Ducati representative and hoped to continue his momentum today.

If in the general classification, the Italian concluded this second day further back, in 12th position, the final result does not represent, in his eyes, the real work carried out, even if the desired improvements were not there. , as he explained to Speedweek: “I'm pretty happy, it's not bad. We didn't set a time at the end of the day, but I'm satisfied with my pace. Of course, drivers like Maverick are faster, but I'm happy. It wasn't important to be at the top of the timesheet today, we wanted to find the right balance with the bike and we were able to do that. »

“We still have a few issues to resolve, including we need more track time. Anyway, I'm happier than yesterday, my pace was better, I progressed a little. But I didn't have the best rhythm, it must be said clearly. Honestly I was at the limit. »

“We still have doubts about the settings,” he continued.“I expected a little more from the changes we made. We still have to try something because the main difference between this bike and last year's bike is the tires. Maybe these tires need something else to get the most out of them. We tested something and expected it to improve, but it didn't. I'm happy with my pace, but at the same time we haven't found anything to really improve on. This is the negative point of the day. Tomorrow we will have to finish our work on the configuration as well as the new things we want to test. We are ready to perform a racing simulation. »
