To Tom Luthi, the hunt for lost time continues. Unable to ride in November due to his injuries, the Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS driver has his work cut out for him. The former 125 world champion, who was also the most experienced rider in the intermediate category, must now completely review his riding to adapt it to the requirements of MotoGP.

Lüthi spent the day to evaluate different settings on his Honda RC213V in order to better understand the impact of the changes made to his machine in terms of behavior, both physical and electronic.

We also made some set-up changes and tried different tire options, just to understand how it affects the handling of the bike. This did not allow us to take a big step forward, which is frustrating for a pilot, but with a little hindsight I say to myself that the day was beneficial »

« The step between Moto2 and MotoGP is higher than many people imagine. And I think this step is even higher for drivers like Tom who have spent quite a few seasons in the intermediate category. Driving a MotoGP is much more complicated than riding a Moto2. There are many more parameters to take into consideration. In Moto2, there are no electronics, one tire for the front and two for the rear, and the power is not enormous.

MotoGP is another world. The tire options are plentiful, the electronics are sophisticated, and the power is twice as much. The slightest movement of the throttle grip has a very significant impact on the behavior of the motorcycle. There are many things to learn and master, and this is what a Rookie should always keep in mind. Patience is a virtue when you start in MotoGP »
