For his first appearance in MotoGP on a track of Silverstone which gave him a lot of time in Moto2, Johann Zarco came away with an eighth place on the grid. A satisfaction for the Frenchman, but measured however, because he could see himself on the second row without a small error in his best lap. There remains the race where the tricolor hopes to once again cause trouble in the top 5. And for that, it has its recipe...
On the first day of this British Grand Prix, the double Moto2 World Champion regretted having to fight a little too much with his Yamaha, especially with the soft tires. This Saturday was better on this point, notably with a good confidence boost in a FP3 looped at the head. FP4 was informative and qualifying could have ended better with a perfect lap: “ I was really fast on my last lap, but I had some problems in turn 11 and lost time. But everyone is so fast here this weekend, so I'm happy with eighth place ».
« During FP4, I had a solid pace and the times were more than satisfactory. Now, it's complicated to keep this pace over the distance of a race. This will be the real challenge of this Grand Prix. I am fast with the soft tires but I also want to be efficient with the hard compounds and we are working on the settings. My goal on Sunday will be to overtake as many drivers as possible and place myself in the leading group. The first laps will be important because there are quite a few drivers who are pushing hard ».
« It won't be easy to be in the top 5, but it's possible. Everything can happen. I will try, that will be my goal. The key for Sunday will be to wake up well and stay relaxed ».
