For the eleventh of 22 rounds of the world championship MotoGP, in Germany at the Sachsenring circuit, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) has so far lived up to its nickname of "King of the Ring", securing both pole position and victory in Sprint: will it be the same this afternoon at the German Grand Prix, after this morning's micro warm-up?
The reigning world champion thus confirmed his status as king of the Sachsenring by winning once again on Saturday at the German circuit, and is now only 32 points behind the championship leader. He was the overwhelming favorite before the start of the weekend. Marc Marquez has perfectly met expectations. After securing pole position, the Spanish driver dominated all 15 laps of the race despite constant pressure from his brother Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Fabio DiGiannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), respectively second and third at the start and finish.
This is perhaps where the new, more spaced-out starting grid layout reveals the downside of its safety benefits…
From the first starting line formed by Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez et
Fabio Di Giannantonio, The podium consisted of the same drivers in the same order, with no overtaking attempts despite the small gaps: for a moment, you could have thought you were in F1…
But let's be patient, because perhaps this situation is due to the specific nature of the Saxon route… and in any case, any safety element is welcome, even if it may require adjustments.
Behind this monotonous trio of Ducatis, the battle didn't rage either. Raúl Fernández(SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) finally swapping his starting position with his teammate Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team), fabio quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team) slipping in the standings and Franco Morbidely (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) making a mistake.
Conversely, George Martin (Aprilia Racing), Francis Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), Peter Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) finished better than they started, but this didn't really ignite the stands…
In short, let's hope the Grand Prix is more exciting…
