Le projet avait du lustre et était méritant : Max Biaggi devait monter son Team en championnat du monde Moto3 pour y concurrencer, de fait, celui de son éternel adversaire Valentino Rossi.
Initially based on Mahindra motorcycles , the venture hit its first snag when the Indian manufacturer announced its withdrawal from the world stage at the end of the season. However, this wasn't enough for the Roman rider, who subsequently reached a compromise with KTM during the Brno weekend.
Nor was it a spectacular crash ending his racing career ( see here ) that was going to throw a wrench in the works for the Corsair, who planned to present Darryn Binder , the brother of 2016 world champion Brad, and the very promising Jaume Masia on a list submitted for IRTA approval.
Unfortunately, the situation seems to have become complicated in recent weeks, and this uncertainty regarding the arrival in the world of this new Italian team was sufficiently heavy for the two drivers concerned to sign elsewhere for the 2018 season, the first with Ajo (who was to withdraw and thus leave two places for Biaggi) and the second at Platinum Bay Real Estate.
So, barring a last minute twist, the 46-year-old ex-pilot will have to wait at least one more season to be able to field his two bikes in the world championships... if he still wishes to do so at that time!
Pity…
