Currently sixth in the Moto3 World Championship, the Scot has to his credit this year a pole position in Argentina, as well as three podiums obtained in Qatar, at Termas de Rio Hondo and at Assen. He is part of the British Talent Team, whose role is to develop the skills and give opportunities to young British hopefuls.

Alongside this detection and training operation, a permanent team was created by Dorna to show the different candidates under what conditions those who were selected would drive. John McPhee has been chosen to be the pilot, but only for 2017. He is not yet aware of what is planned for 2018.

Dorna currently has not communicated its plans for 2018, and McPhee does not yet know how he should envisage next season, nor what type of contact he can make with other teams.

He recently told Simon Patterson of motorcyclenews.com that “ It's an important moment at this stage of the season because I was signed to a one-year deal, so I don't have a contract with the team for 2018. I don't know when I will receive information , because with Dorna, it's a situation where we're informed, rather than asking what's going on. »

“After the Qatar race at the start of the year I had offers from Moto2 teams, but I think because people expected the deal with my British Talent team to continue... 'next year, there hasn't been much contact since. »

“The ideal scenario would be for me to stay with this team in Moto3, but if that is not possible, I will certainly consider moving to Moto2. I have to start talking to the teams quickly because the bikes for next year are being distributed quickly. »
