Fabio DiGiannantonio arrived at the Hungarian Grand Prix determined to take revenge on the Italian one, which took place a few days ago and where things didn't go as planned. Aware of having missed an opportunity for a podium finish at home, he is keen to get his revenge at Balaton Park, where he had been very successful last year.
Nevertheless, the Italian rider had planned significant groundwork with his team, and the results were not what he had hoped for. While he didn't provide any further details, he remained one of the strongest riders on this first day, posting the second-fastest time overall, after finishing fifth in FP1 this morning.
“It was a busy day, but I’m happy because we worked hard throughout to find solutions to get closer to our competitors and further improve the bike. We focused on the front end and balance, but that takes time and we also have to prepare for the weekend.”, he said during his debriefing.
"In this kind of situation, you don't focus on pure speed and that exposes you to the risk of missing out on direct access to Q2. We secured Q2 thanks to a good lap in the last few minutes and we managed to set some good lap times."
“We were looking to improve and we had a lot of new things to test, and many ideas. Unfortunately, the results didn't live up to our expectations, so we went back to my basic settings. Overall, we're satisfied because we showed good speed today.”he concluded.
