MotoGP, Malaysia – Marc Márquez wins and insists: "It's fighting for a title that makes me go fast, nothing more."

Marc Márquez appeared tired at the finish of the Malaysian GP and believes that only his mental strength allows him to continue delivering his performances.

Yesterday, Marc Márquez secured a solid second place in the sprint race, after being jostled at the start and finding himself in fourth. He didn't hesitate to fight against Ai Ogura as the rain began to fall, taking risks to secure this result.

This Sunday, he managed his start very well. Although his brother overtook him on the first lap, he quickly took the lead before pulling away and never being challenged again by his pursuers. After leading alone for all twenty laps, he won and increased his championship lead to 44 points, giving him his first chance to clinch the title as early as next weekend in Qatar.

However, number 93 doesn't want to change his approach, given how successful it has been since the middle of the season. "The job isn't finished ," he told DAZN. " So I don't want to fall into the trap of thinking, 'Okay, that's it,' no, I have to continue with the same mindset. There are only a few races left, but many key moments. So we're staying super focused."

“For this second part of the season, I’m focusing a lot on the most important moments and, so far, it’s working well. This weekend, I felt it would count. Jorge was injured, and we can’t leave Bezzecchi out because there are good circuits for him, so from the first lap of FP1 I attacked like it was a time attack in order to find my limits in practice and manage them as best as possible in the race.”

Although Marc Márquez is among the riders most opposed to the holding of the Qatar Grand Prix, it will nevertheless take place and he will therefore prepare accordingly.

"The next step is to go home and rest. We'll arrive in Qatar on Thursday, and from there we'll prepare for the weekend and try to score some points. It's about keeping the same mentality: when we can, we can, and when we can't, we can't, so we'll see ," he added.

Very tired at the end of the race, the Ducati rider assured that his injuries were under control and that it was mainly the challenge that allowed him to deliver such performances on the track, in addition to a lot of work to understand his new abilities.

“The whole shoulder blade, shoulder and arm area doesn’t recover, it’s an adaptation. You just have to persevere, search a little more, find different ways to ride, find different grips on my legs, different things that can help me. I adapted very well during this second part of the season but I think it’s the mental aspect, the fact of fighting for a title that makes me go fast, nothing more ,” he concluded.
