The British driver took part in the celebration of the collaboration between Castrol and Honda at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit in the presence of many guests. Crutchlow was joined for this event by former LCR Honda driver Stefan Bradl, who shared the track with Cal aboard his current Honda WSBK, as well as McLaren Honda Formula 1 team driver Stoffel Vandoorne and by Norbert Michelisz (Castrol Honda WTCC team).

Crutchlow had undergone surgery the day before on his left index finger, a tendon of which had been severed the day before yesterday (Monday) when he was injured with a kitchen knife. “Unfortunately, I cut my finger with a knife and it severed the tendon of my left index finger, Crutchlow explained. I slept on it, but as the bleeding continued, I went to the emergency room of Pistoia Hospital, where I was treated by Dr. Riccardo Simonti who discovered that the tendon was cut. I then had an operation on my finger to reattach the tendon. I was treated very well at the hospital, they did a good job. I have since visited a hand specialist in Parma who made me a finger splint to enable me to fly. »

The small marketing meeting in Barcelona was therefore an opportunity to test this repaired finger, and apparently everything went well. Cal can confidently take charge of Misano.

According to Crutchlow, “ It was a great opportunity to spend time with Castrol's guests at the Barcelona circuit. I had the chance to ride the MotoGP bike and the touring car, and meet other riders like Stoffel Vandoorne. We enjoyed it, we had a good time here and I think after the Silverstone weekend where the bike looked fantastic with the Retro Castrol colors it was good to come here and show them to new. »

For LCR team boss Lucio Cecchinello, “ Cal has a cut on his finger, that doesn't mean he can't ride, but it does have some complications. He could therefore have minor difficulties in changes of direction. But we studied a glove that allows him to always keep his finger straight, under the clutch, in order to manage the race well.

« We had a great day with Castrol staff and their guests in Catalonia today. They had the chance to test the Honda Civic cars of the Castrol Honda WTCC team with Monteiro and they saw a real MotoGP bike while Cal did some demo laps with Stefan Bradl. I think it was a unique experience for Castrol customers and for us too because we had the chance (Cal included) to take a ride with Tiago and go from two wheels to four wheels for a day. »
