It was an ecstatic Lorenzo who took stock of his qualifying for the last Grand Prix of the year in Valencia. A deadline which will be combined with his final appearance in the race on a Yamaha. Two events taken on the right side with this record pole position on the Ricardo Tormo track. But the Majorcan warns: tomorrow, Sunday, it will be another story.

Jorge Lorenzo had found his hammer on the Ricardo Tormo circuit during the qualifying session. Never has a rider managed to go below 1'30 per lap on a MotoGP. However, Por Fuera did it three times: a 1'29.849 first followed by a 1'29.613 and, finally, a 1'29.401. Beautiful work and necessary labor to guard against a Marc Márquez determined who stopped his time at a 1'29.741 which says a lot about his intentions for the future.

But while waiting for the Sunday game, the future Ducati rider could contemplate his work of the day: “ I'm happy to go into my last race with Yamaha from pole position. Qualifying went really well, I was very motivated and I felt good both the tires and the track. This allowed me to further raise my level of driving ».

« With each outing, I improved by two tenths, it was very motivating. The bike held up, I pushed harder and harder and I didn't fall. It was my day and I am very proud of it. The conditions were perfect, better than this morning which was a little cool. Michelin brought good tires here, the same as in Brno and Misano. I am much more comfortable with this tire. So I could attack with complete confidence ».

And for tomorrow? “ The race is obviously the most important thing and it will be a different story to do thirty laps starting with a full tank than just one with a light bike. But we will be there for the victory. Our pace is correct, we have gradually improved the bike. It proved to be more and more effective in curves. We have a chance to fight for victory because we are competitive with both options offered for the rear tire ».

By registering at the top of the starting grid in Valencia, Jorge Lorenzo joined Marc Marquez among the top positions with 65 absolute achievements including 39 in MotoGP.
