New World Champion in the Moto2 category, Franco will perform his last Grand Prix in this class this weekend, before joining MotoGP, still with Marc VDS.

On his Kalex, Morbidelli has been on the podium eleven times this year, eight times on the top step. With one more success, the Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider would equal the record of nine victories in the same season held by Marc Marquez in Moto2 since 2012.

Franco Morbidelli :

“The championship is over, the pressure has dissipated, but I still want to win and that is what I will try to do this weekend in Valencia.

“I'm not fixated on Marc's record for victories in the same season, but I would like to get on the top step of the podium one last time before moving on to MotoGP.

“Obviously, it won't be easy because we've seen that the KTMs have made big progress during the last few races, but I will give my best to achieve it. »

His teammate Alex Marquez, ex-Moto3 World Champion, had his best season in Moto2 this year, scoring six podiums including three victories, at home in Jerez and in Barcelona, as well as at Honda in Motegi, to secure fourth Championship place.

Alex Marquez :

“I am one hundred percent motivated for the last race of the season and I will go there in much better physical shape than I was at the start of the overseas tour.

“This week was the first time I was able to train normally since my injury in Misano and I am therefore very positive for the weekend ahead. The last race in Malaysia ended with a crash and a disappointment, and I want to put all that behind me by having a great Grand Prix in front of my home crowd in Valencia. »

Michael Bartholémy :

“On the eve of this last race in Valencia, our two drivers no longer have any pressure. Franco was crowned Moto2 world champion in Malaysia and Alex holds a fourth place that no opponent can contest from him. This means that both will be able to race this weekend with a free mind.

“They want to win and I think they are both capable of doing so. In any case, I hope to see them together at the forefront, which would be the best way to end this great season for the whole team. »
