Much less spectacular than the fire which destroyed all the motorcycles in Jerez, an incident nevertheless occurred this afternoon during the first day of free practice for MotoE.

A priori, the lithium-ion battery of the motorcycle Niki Tuuli ignited during charging. Thick white smoke then rose into the sky before the fire was fortunately contained and spread to the other electric motorcycles.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the causes of this fire which broke out today at the Red Bull Ring.

However, the two sessions were able to take place and the drivers have a third free practice session this weekend before the E-Pole which will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Niki Tuuli, already author of the best time ahead Bradley Smith et Mike Di Meglio this morning, reissued this afternoon after receiving a new new battery.
