fabio quartararo wants to mark the start of a new era in MotoGP. He doesn't want to settle for the first world title he won last season, but wants to make an encore and lay the foundations for an even more exciting future with Yamaha. No one better than him knows how to tame the YZR-M1 and bring it to the border with the limit, while the same bike is the despair of riders like Andrea Dovizioso et Franco Morbidelli.
In Austria, the enthusiasm of the winner Pecco Bagnaia faded with a second place from the Frenchman on which few would have bet, on a circuit where Yamaha should have struggled a lot. Fabio Quartararo slowly gaining strength in the MotoGP championship, the sympathy of fans of all ages and nationalities, thanks also to a humble and contagious smile. Last year at Misano he celebrated his first world title, next September 4 on the same circuit he will try again to counter the wave Ducati and to defend himself from the attacks of his pursuers Aleix Espargaro et bagnaia.
Did the results from Assen and Silverstone put more pressure on you?
« After Assen it was difficult, I didn't feel any pressure but I know I made a mistake with the team. It's true that a faster opponent like Pecco has arrived, but no pressure. »
What new things do you expect from the Misano test?
« We hope the engine will be faster than the one tested in the Barcelona test. We had taken a small step, but we hope to take a big step. »

Fabio Quartararo: “ we're a little late, but we hope to take a step forward with the 2023 bike »
Aprilia and Ducati seem to have an advantage over the Japanese Honda and Yamaha. In your opinion, is this a historic change or a momentary parenthesis?
« We're a little late, but we hope to take a step forward with the 2023 bike. But it's true that we're there. Even if we have problems with the bike, we push hard. »
We know the limits of the Yamaha M1. Instead, what do you think you need to improve as a driver?
« As a driver, I need to improve my performance on wet-dry mixes. In the wet we took a step forward, we can improve everywhere. Generally we are very strong, but it is also true that a driver can always improve and that is how we have to do it. »
It is said that there is a lack of big personalities like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa in MotoGP… What do you think?
« They have been here for many years, they all arrived at the same time, apart from Valentino who was already there. But if you look in six or seven years, we will have new drivers who in the future will be like them. »
What if one day a love proposal arrived from Ducati?
« At the moment I am focused on my work with the team, we will definitely do a good job. It will depend on my future, for sure I will stay with Yamaha until 2024 and I hope for even more years with them. Let's wait for the 2023-2024 project and then see. »
