With the fastest time in FP1 and second place in Practice, he established himself as the strongest rider of the day alongside Álex Márquez. While the Spaniard currently appears to have the edge, the VR46 rider remains very close and made no secret of his satisfaction at being so fast.
“I’m very happy because I’ve never had this kind of speed before. I’m very proud of this package, which is very solid. It was important to start the European Grands Prix with the same feeling as in the first races. The day went well and I’m satisfied with my race pace, even if I sometimes lacked it on the flying lap. I need to improve my time attack, but I think I have room for improvement.”, did he declare.
Aware of what he lacks, he plans to work on it to qualify on the front row tomorrow, then find a solid race rhythm. “We’re happy with the bike, even though we keep drawing comparisons with the Aprilia because it’s slightly better at the moment. When you’re a fast rider, you find your speed. You eventually identify your weaknesses and work on them.”, he added.
"This year, we're missing a little something in terms of tire management, which is penalizing us a bit. The goal is to have speed in the time attack and then be able to manage the tires at the end of the race, which the Aprilias do very well."
