KTM transformed its 790 Duke into the 890. But the work that the Austrians have done on their roadster is not limited to this hundred. The new opus thus has more power, more torque, revised suspension elements, a more powerful front brake and expanded electronic functions. Needless to say, this is a real novelty!

2020 start, KTM revealed the 890 Duke. It was not intended to succeed the Duke 790, but to be a sharp weapon for the circuit and winding country roads with all the power of the LC8c and some features that literally invited ambitious riders to make contact with the asphalt with their knee.

But now here is the KTM 890 Duke which aims to be a powerful package for the road and a worthy successor to the 790 Dukee. With its 100 cm3 more displacement, the new opus sees its power peak at 115 hp at 9 rpm and its maximum torque display 92 Nm at 8 rpm. The 000 Duke is a little more docile than the R model which claimed 890 hp and 121 Nm.

From 5 to 500 rpm there is always more than 10 Nm. For smoother throttle response, the engine flywheel mass is 000% heavier. The result is better cornering stability and smoother engine operation at low and mid-range. The engine also complies with the standard Euro 5 and has exemplary fuel consumption with 4,8 l/100 km from its 14 liter tank.

The electronics are newly equipped with a six-axis gyro sensor, which allows traction control and ABS to be controlled depending on the lean angle. The three riding modes Street, Sport and Rain are standard, while the freely programmable Track mode can be ordered as an option.

The KTM 890 Duke is light and sharp

The KTM 890 Duke's cast aluminum rear frame and chrome-molybdenum steel chassis ensure sporty feedback and extremely precise handling. And here too, the LC8c engine plays an important role as a supporting part. Despite all the improvements, the KTM 890 Duke has not gained a single gram compared to its predecessor and still weighs a svelte 169 kg (dry). The rear frame, minimalist and lightweight, houses the air intake as well as the air filter housing.

Thanks to its updated and improved WP APEX suspension with a 43 mm inverted fork and a direct-acting gas pressure shock absorber at the rear, the KTM 890 Duke promises to be hooked floats on the asphalt. Unlike the R model, the damping is not adjustable.

In terms of ergonomics, the KTM 890 Duke, unlike its sister R, is aimed at a wider target group and therefore offers a lower seat height of 820 mm, a more upright posture and more space for legs so tall riders can sit comfortably. The front brake system is modernized with new calipers. For the brake discs, KTM left it at two 300 mm. The 320 discs with Stylema calipers are reserved for the 890 Duke R.

Other details include LED lighting, Continental ContiRoad tires and compatibility with KTM's myRide app. In addition, the KTM 890 Duke can be customized with different KTM PowerParts and riders can identify with their motorcycle with clothing from the KTM PowerWear collection.
