Fermin Aldeguer, the youngest Spanish rider to make his MotoGP debut, showed encouraging signs in the Thailand test but is still far from the leaders. At just 19, the Gresini Racing rookie made a strong impression in the Sepang test, finishing 11th and becoming a discreet favourite for the title of best rookie of the season. However, at the Buriram circuit in Thailand, the reality of MotoGP set in, with a more mixed performance.
On the second day of testing at Buriram, Aldeguer found himself in 20th position, 1,5 seconds behind the leader. He was overtaken by other rookies like Ai Ogura, who finished 7th, and barely outperformed the local driver Somkiat Chantra, also a MotoGP novice. Despite these results, Aldeguer remains realistic and determined to progress.
« Of course, my goal this season is to be the best of the newcomers. But the others are also fast. Chantra, but also Ogura, who is very strong in Thailand. In the end, I try to focus on myself ", said Aldeguer, highlighting the fierce competition among rookies.

After eight days of testing on the Ducati Gresini, Aldeguer remains satisfied with his progress, although aware of the challenges that await him. MotoGP is still new to me and I find myself constantly thinking about many things that I don't have a routine with yet.. There can always be surprises. But everything is going very well with the team and we are working together, and on the track I would say: I am ready for the first race! »
With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, Fermin Aldeguer looks ready to take on the challenges of his first season in MotoGP. Although he still has to close the gap to the leaders, his potential and determination suggest a promising future in the premier class.
